Intel Plans $15 Billion Stock Offering as AI Demand Accelerates

Intel announced a $15 billion common stock offering to support skyrocketing customer demand for AI computing power, with a 30-day option allowing underwriters to buy an additional $2.25 billion. The funding supports corporate needs including capex and working capital, following Intel’s fastest revenue growth in nearly 15 years and hiked 2026 capex guidance of $20 billion.

The raise fits the broader capex cycle: Goldman Sachs estimates industry AI spending will hit $765 billion this year and $1.2 trillion in 2027, as every player races to lock in capacity before constraints tighten further. Intel shares have surged 175% in 2026 and quintupled over the last year, boosted by the AI buildout and the U.S. government’s 10% equity stake—raising $15 billion off that run makes sense strategically.

Space Economy: Incredible Growth

Elon Musk and SpaceX plan to build the world’s largest chip manufacturing facility, dubbed “Terafab,” just outside Houston. The facility will house manufacturing, packaging, and testing of advanced logic and memory chips in a single facility, aimed squarely at the bottleneck Musk keeps hitting: there are not enough chips on Earth to build the Optimus robots, Cybercabs, and space-based data centers he has pitched investors.

SpaceX describes the plant as designed to “bridge the divide between current global chip supply and the compute demand of the future.”
